Otomize Ear Spray
£16.49
Otomize ear spray is a fast-acting treatment for inflammation and infections of the external part of the ear (otitis externa). It is an antibiotic ear spray used to treat Swimmers’s ear.
Combination Medication: Otomize Ear Spray is a combination medication that contains three active ingredients: dexamethasone (a corticosteroid), neomycin sulfate (an antibiotic), and acetic acid (an antifungal and antibacterial agent). This combination is intended to address a range of ear conditions.
Anti-Inflammatory: Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, helps to reduce inflammation and swelling in the ear canal. This can provide relief from pain and discomfort associated with ear infections and other ear conditions.
Antibacterial and Antifungal: Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic that helps combat bacterial infections, while acetic acid has antifungal and antibacterial properties. These components work together to target and eliminate harmful microorganisms in the ear.
Treatment of Otitis Externa: Otomize is commonly prescribed for the treatment of otitis externa, also known as “swimmer’s ear,” which is an infection or inflammation of the external ear canal. It may also be used for other ear conditions as determined by a healthcare provider.
Adults and Children: Otomize may be suitable for both adults and children, but the dosage and administration instructions may vary depending on the patient’s age.
Potential Side Effects: As with any medication, Otomize Ear Spray may have potential side effects, and the common side effects may include irritation, burning, itching, or allergic reactions in some cases.

Frequently asked questions
Otitis externa (also known as Swimmer’s ear) is a bacterial infection that causes redness and swelling (inflammation) of the tube between the outer ear and the eardrum.
The outer ear infection is typically caused by water that stayed in the outer ear canal for a long period of time, providing a moist environment for bacteria to grow.
Swimmer’s ear is not contagious meaning it cannot be spread from one person to another.
You can buy antibiotic ear spray, Otomize from our Online Chemist private doctor.

▪️ Ear pain
▪️ Itching and irritation in and around your ear canal
▪️ Redness and swelling of the outer ear and ear canal
▪️ A feeling of pressure and fullness inside the ear
▪️ Scaly skin in and around the ear canal, which may peel off
▪️ Discharge from the ear, which can be either thin and watery or thick and pus-like
▪️ Tenderness when you move your ear or jaw
▪️ Swollen and sore glands in the throat

You can prevent otitis externa by:
▪️ Keep ears as dry as possible – use a bathing cap, ear plugs, or custom-fitted swim moulds when swimming.
▪️ Dry ears thoroughly after swimming or showering.
-
- Use a towel to dry ears well.
- Tilt the head back and forth so that each ear faces down to allow water to escape the ear canal.
- Pull the earlobe in different directions when the ear faces down to help water drain out.
- If there is still water in the ear, consider using a hair dryer to move air within the ear canal.
- Put the hair dryer on the lowest heat and speed/fan setting.
- Hold the hair dryer several inches from the ear.
▪️ Do not put objects in the ear canal (including cotton-tip swabs, pencils, paperclips, or keys).
▪️ Do not try to remove ear wax. Ear wax helps protect the ear canal from infection.
If you think the ear canal could be blocked by earwax, book our earwax removal service. Call our ear clinic now on 01493600610.

Otomize ear spray – Patient Information Leaflet
You can buy Otomize antibiotic ear spray from our Online Chemist private doctor.
Otomize ear spray is used to treat inflammation and infection of the outer part of the ear canal (otitis externa).
Otomize contains three active ingredients, dexamethasone, neomycin and acetic acid.
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid, which reduces inflammation. Inflammation in the ear(resulting in redness, swollen and painful) may be a result of damage, irritation or infection of the skin inside the ear.
Neomycin is a type of antibiotic used to treat infections caused by a wide variety of bacteria.
Glacial acetic acid produces an acidic environment in the ear which is unfavourable for bacteria to survive in. Acetic acid helps control any infection.
Otomize ear spray is administered directly into the ear to produce a local effect in the outer ear canal. Please follow the following process:
▪️ Shake the bottle well before each use.
▪️ The spray should be primed before you use it for the first time by pressing the actuator down several times until a fine spray is produced. Make sure you point the spray away from yourself and other people while doing this. If you have not used the spray for longer than a week it will need to be reprimed in the same way before you use it again.
▪️ One spray should be administered into the affected ear(s) three times a day.
▪️ You should keep using this medicine for two days after your symptoms have cleared up to make sure that the infection is fully treated and thus minimise the chance of it coming back.
▪️ Otomize ear spray should be disposed of four weeks after first opening it.
▪️ Consult your doctor if there is little or no improvement in your symptoms after seven days of treatment with this medicine.
