Promethazine tablets

Promethazine tablet helps you sleep through the night. It is for short-term use only. It is used to treat adults with difficulty sleeping (insomnia). Promethazine is suitable for children aged 16 years and above. Promethazine tablets are a medication primarily used to treat allergies, motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, and sedation. 

1. Active Ingredient: The active ingredient in promethazine tablets is promethazine hydrochloride, which belongs to a class of drugs known as phenothiazines.

2. Antihistamine: Promethazine acts as an antihistamine, blocking the effects of histamine in the body. This action helps alleviate allergy symptoms such as itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

3. Antiemetic: Promethazine tablets also possess antiemetic properties, meaning they can help relieve nausea and vomiting. This makes them useful for managing symptoms associated with motion sickness, chemotherapy, or post-operative nausea.

4. Sedative: Promethazine is known for its sedative effects, which can induce relaxation and sleepiness. It is sometimes prescribed to help individuals with insomnia or to assist with preoperative sedation.

8. Side Effects: Common side effects of promethazine tablets may include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and urinary retention.
